Sonoma County administrator resigns

SANTA ROSA -- Sonoma County Administrator Bob Deis today announced his resignation, effective at noon tomorrow, after five years in the position.

Mr. Deis, 53, called his departure from the position as top county executive a "mutual parting of the ways" with the board of supervisors.

"The board has changed and will continue to change and as a result, we found a way to meet our mutual interests," he said in a statement.

In a statement, the board noted highlights form his nine years in county government, including keeping Sutter Health operations local and pushing the board to create a strategic plan.

Mr. Deis has a 30-year career in local government. He said he will entertain taking another public-sector job soon.
