Stephen Schwitalla joined the Sonoma- based Culinary Society of America's advisory board as co-chairman. Mr. Schwitalla is CEO of the Sonoma County Vintners Co-operative and founding partner of Pack N' Ship Direct in Windsor.

The Santa Rosa Breakfast Club, a Sonoma County-based leads, networking and business club, elected Jim Headley, president; Debbie Wallace, vice president; Gabe Dunton, treasurer; James Blair, secretary; and Ed Berland, webmaster.

Education

Kentfield-based College of Marin named Nick Chang vice president of student learning. Mr. Chang served as College of Marin's interim vice president of student learning since 2008 and as interim dean of student development and special services since 2007.

Receiving Juris Doctor degrees from Empire College School of Law in Santa Rosa are Beverly Bartels, Darin Bartow, Mark Bettis, Robert Bialkin, Margaret Brothers, Candi Brown, Robert Brown, Kent Bulloch, Shannon Dean, Tammy Dier, Patrice Doyle, Rachel  Elliott, Kathleen Ferchland, Dana Furby, Kevin Gingher, Kirk Gorman, Phillip Hatfield, Benjamin Karpilow, Paul Kohlmann, Margaret Russell, Caitanya Scott, Rachel Simard-McAllister,  Natalie Soter, Andrew Stadler, Jillian Strawn, Heidie  Trautwein and Thomas Walsh.

Santa Rosa-based Sonoma Academy hired Andrew Gloger as humanities instructor; Darren Duarte as math-science instructor; Daniel Miller as director of information science and library services; Garland Green Jr. as director of technology; Matthew Kerns as theater director; and Kevin Christensen as assistant athletic director.

Green

Novato-based SolarCraft added to its Sonoma sales team Robert Smith, a licensed general building contractor and attorney, and Page Leonard, who has more than 30 years of roofing experience.

Insurance

Sean Parsons and Steve Shira joined the George Petersen Insurance Agency in Santa Rosa. Mr. Parsons specializes in auto dealers, construction firms and retail property and casualty markets. Mr. Shira's specialty area is group and executive benefits.

Nonprofit Organizations

The Council on Aging in Santa Rosa named Marrianne McBride president and CEO. Ms. McBride was development director for Council on Aging where she helped raise $3.5 million to build the new Meals on Wheels kitchen.

Napa Valley Community Foundation appointed as board members Anne Carver, founder of the Calistoga Family Center; Rick Jones, owner of Jones Family Vineyards; Robin Lail, owner of Lail Vineyards; and Melissa Rodezno, constituent service representative for Congressman Mike Thompson.

PDI Surgery Center in Windsor named Bill Hawn and Dr. Katherine Foster as board chair and vice-chair and appointed Connie Codding of Codding Enterprises to its board of directors.

Advisory board members are Brad Bollinger of the Business Journal, Bret Martin of the Ken Martin Family Fund, Marcy Smothers of Food Guy and Marcy Show, and Jim Wood, DDS and vice-mayor of Healdsburg. PDI is a community-based organization and dental surgery center that treats children with severe tooth decay under general anesthesia.

Real Estate

Henry Mayo, founder and chairman for 13 years of Sonoma-based Frank Howard Allen Realtors, The Wine Country Group, has retired. His ownership interests were acquired by partners Gerrett Snedaker and Earl Shuttleworth.

Wine

Seated on the Mendocino Winegrape & Wine Commission board of directors are incumbents Rich Schaefers of Beckstoffer Vineyards, Norma Gibson of Hillside Vineyards and Peter Chevalier of Chevalier Vineyard Management. Chris Nelson of Nelson Vineyards and Tim Thornhill of Mendocino Wine Co. were newly elected.

Windsor-based Sonoma County Vintners Co-op/Pack N' Ship Direct, elected to its board of directors Mike Martini, owner of Taft Street Winery, and Tom Jackson, chief administrative officer for Chalk Hill Wine Estates in Windsor.
