SAN RAFAEL -- Autodesk Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) reported a 33 percent drop in revenue since the second quarter of its last fiscal year.
Revenues in the Americas declined 21 percent compared with the same period last year, while revenues from Asia Pacific were down 34 percent and revenues from emerging economies decreased 45 percent.
"Revenue results for the quarter were in line with our expectations and continue to reflect a challenging global business environment," said Autodesk President and CEO Carl Bass. "We are pleased with the progress we've made to increase our efficiency and reduce our overall cost structure. As a result, we increased our profitability on a sequential basis."
Autodesk, which makes design software for the manufacturing, building and construction, and entertainment and media markets, employs about 1,200 in its San Rafael headquarters, 7,500 worldwide.
Earlier this year the company eliminated 135 positions in San Rafael as part of a 10 percent overall workforce reduction.
