NBLC to honor leaders

NORTH BAY – The North Bay Leadership Council will honor five individuals and organizations as leaders that have been positive catalysts for change at its annual Leaders of the North Bay awards.

The award winners are Dr. Thomas Peters, president and CEO of the Marin Community Foundation in the “Caught in Act of Leadership” category; Bill Friedman, president and CEO of Friedman’s Home Improvement in the “We’re All in This Together” category; Ellie Rilla, former  director of the U.C. Cooperative Extension in the “Paint the Community Green” category; the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce and the city of Santa Rosa Economic Development and Housing Department in the “The Light Bulb Went On” category; and Bahia Vista Elementary School in San Rafael in the “Empowering the Latino Community” category.

The award recipients will be honored at an Oct. 30 luncheon at the Doubletree Hotel in Rohnert Park. Award-winning photojournalist and philanthropist Paola Gianturco will deliver the keynote speech, “Women Who Light the Dark: Creative Leadership,” based on her newest book.
