UKIAH — Mendocino Winegrape and Wine Commission today said it named Dave Batt as president of the nearly 4-year-old organization, which has 343 grower and 84 winery members.

Mr. Batt’s career includes managing California wine brands, writing and producing advertising for consumer brands and consulting on wine brand strategy and development.

Before that, he owned a restaurant and wine retailer and worked as a sommelier and wine educator. He is a member of the Society of Wine Educators, the Public Relations Society of America and the Sommelier Society of America

He replaces wine publicist Paige Poulos, who had been serving as interim president since the mid-2008 departure of John Enquist, the longtime leader of the Mendocino wine trade group that preceded commission formation in 2006.
