Agilent sells network solutions business to JDSU

SANTA ROSA -- Today Agilent Technologies announced it will sell its network solutions business to JDS Uniphase for $165 million in cash.

The business group includes Agilent's network assurance solutions, network protocol test and drive test products, which had revenues of $162 million in 2009. The group employs about 700 workers, with headquarters in Santa Rosa and operations in Colorado, the U.K., Singapore and China.

Agilent is selling its network solutions business because it believes the business and its customers will be better served by a company that is focused exclusively on communications network testing.

"We believe JDSU is an excellent fit for this business," said Ron Nersesian, president of Agilent's Electronic Measurement Group.

Agilent employs about 1,000 in Santa Rosa. Santa Clara-based JDSU makes telecommunication test equipment. It also operates an optical thin film business division in Santa Rosa.
