January unemployment rate jumps in North Bay

NORTH BAY — The unemployment rate in January jumped about a full percentage point in most North Bay counties from December to 11.3 percent in Sonoma, 13.0 percent in Solano, 11.1 percent in Napa, 12.7 percent in Mendocino and 19.6 percent in Lake, according to state figures released this morning.
Sonoma County’s rate was 10.3 percent in December and 8.5 percent in January 2009, according to the state Employment Development Department.
The exception to the one percentage point or better jump in the rate was Marin County, where unemployment was 8.9 percent in January, up from 6.6 percent in January 2009 and 8.2 percent in December, the state said.
Marin’s rate at the beginning of this year was the state’s second-best, beat out for the first time in a number of months by the 8.1 percent rate in Mono County, which has a job force of just 10,190 compared with Marin’s 130,200.
The jobless rate for Solano County was 11.8 percent in December and 9.7 percent the previous January.
Napa County’s rate was 10.2 percent in December and 8.2 percent the previous January.
The jobless rate in Mendocino County in January 2009 was 10.4 percent and 12.2 percent at the end of last year.
Lake County unemployment in January 2009 was figured to be 15.3 percent and 18.2 percent in December.
The statewide rate the first month of this year was 13.2 percent.
The new county figures reflect the EDD’s annual “benchmarking” that include its updates to the data sets used monthly.

The same people who have caused this are still running things. Figure it out. This is the culmination of open the borders, continue raising taxes and spend and spend. No oil drilling, no new refineries, no nuclear power. This is only the beginning of the depression we are headed into.
