Petaluma hospital district surveying residents on local health care

PETALUMA — Southern Sonoma County residents will be able to assess the quality and accessibility of health care being provided by Petaluma Valley Hospital in an online survey, officials announced.
The Petaluma Health Care District said it will collect data from all residents – whether privately insured, uninsured or on Medicare – in an effort to gather the most cohesive sampling of views on how care and services are being or should be offered.
“While we have all heard much about national health care reform efforts, this survey is designed to focus on local issues over which we may have more control,” Daymon Doss, CEO of the district, said in a statement.
The survey will take place online, where participants can complete the questionnaire within a matter of minutes. All of the information collected will be anonymous.
The district hopes the results will enable it to better tailor the needs of residents.
“It’s important for us to hear what services the residents want and expect so that we can work to recruit physicians and medical staff to fill those needs in the future,” said district Board President Robert Ostroff.
The survey will run through March 30 and is available at www.phcd.org. Residents without Internet access can have a physical copy of the survey mailed to them by calling 707-285-2143 ext. 130.
