SONOMA – The first members-only private sale company focusing exclusively on wine launched last week. Tony and Danielle Westfall formed Winery Insider, www.wineryinsider.com, to offer members access to hundreds of wines from around the world at 40 percent to 80 percent off retail prices.

Many wineries are looking to sell excess inventory due to the economic slowdown and surplus grape supply, and they like the structure of Winery Insider because it offers brand identity protection, said Mr. Westfall.

Winery Insider handles all order fulfillment and compliance, shipping only to U.S. states where wine shipments are legal.

The Westfalls have worked for Foster’s Wine Estates, Trinchero Family Estates, Viansa Winery and Wine.com. Mr. Westfall holds Level I certification with the Court of Master Sommeliers and makes all the wine selections.
