Applications for Leadership Napa Valley Class 24 are now being accepted. The program offers aspiring leaders in Napa Valley an opportunity to develop leadership skills, be exposed to a broad range of community programs and issues, network with other leaders and have fun. Class 24 will meet a total of 14 days over 9 months. Applications for Class 24 are due by April 30 at www.leadershipnapavalley.com.

Nicasio Native Grass Ranch in Nicasio received a Sustainable North Bay Award from Assemblymember Jared Huffman. Ranch owners John Wick and Peggy Rathmann run their tractors on biodiesel, practice rotational grazing and are committed to preserving native grasses and vegetation.
The American Public Works Association recognized the Sonoma County Water Agency with the 2010 Project of the Year award for completing its tertiary treatment plant upgrade at the Sonoma Valley County Sanitation District. The tertiary treatment plant cleans the community's wastewater to meet recycled water standards, the highest level of treatment defined by the state of California.
Novato-based SPG Solar completed a second roof-mounted system for JMB Realty on the upper floor of the Century Park West parking garage in Century City, Los Angeles. This system is expected to offset 80 percent of the annual electricity demand for the parking structure, save more than $46,000 per year on electricity costs and offset 7,500 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions through its 25-year life.
Landscape
Sonoma-based Rollin Design will create a 1,000-square-foot garden for the San Francisco Garden Show to be held March 24-28 at the San Mateo Convention Center. Rollin’s “No Place Like Home” garden is a collaboration with architect Brad Johnson of Sonoma’s StataAP. It includes steel sculptural elements by Steel Geisha of Sonoma and a garden tower constructed by Companies of Kentfield.
Retail
San Jose-based Orchard Supply Hardware’s new store in Santa Rosa won two design awards from the Association for Retail Environments: the Outstanding Merit Award for a specialty store over 25,000 square feet for excellence and originality in the Santa Rosa store’s design, and the Best In-Store Communication Award for its clear signage and easy-to-navigate aisles.
Oxbow Wine Merchant and Oxbow Cheese Merchant announced the two operations will move from their current location to Napa’s Oxbow Public Market’s Main Market Hall, directly across from Hog Island Oyster Co., bringing the wine and cheese shops into the main mix of vendors. The move is expected to be complete by July 1.
Technology
Petaluma-based Tegal Corp., provider of specialized production solutions for the fabrication of semiconductor devices, received an order for a Tegal tool from McGill University, a leading research university involved in developing biosensors, biochips and biomaterials using nanostructure methodologies. The Tegal tool will be installed in the McGill Nanotools – Microfab, located in Montreal, Canada.
