Education & Training

The Napa Police Department now requires responsible beverage service training for events serving or selling alcohol within city limits.  This requirement applies to all organizations applying for an ABC Daily License (form 221). Organizations can access an array of resources at “Responsible Beverage Service” in the Quick Links menu at www.cityofnapa.org.

Government

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors approved a $437,638 contract with RRM Design Group to develop a master plan for the creation of the Taylor Mountain Regional Park and Open Space Preserve in southeast Santa Rosa. The process will begin this summer and is estimated to take approximately two years to complete.

Green

Ashland, Oregon-based Brammo Inc., maker of electric motorcycles, announced that the price of its Enertia all-electric motorcycle is now just $5995 in California after federal and state incentives. The Enertia is available at select Best Buy locations, including Santa Rosa.

Novato-based SolarCraft announced the completion of a solar electric generating system at Long Meadow Ranch in St. Helena. Long Meadow Ranch installed solar energy to further its sustainable farming practices and stabilize rising electricity costs.

Manufacturing

Glen Ellen-based B.R. Cohn Olive Oil Co. announced the addition of Lime Olive Oil to its collection of gourmet specialty food products.

Wine

Sonoma-based Schug Carneros Estate Winery, founded in 1980 by husband and wife Walter and Gertrud Schug, marks its 30th anniversary this year. Mr. Schug established his reputation during his tenure as winemaker for Joseph Phelps Vineyards, where he made California’s first proprietary Bordeaux-style blend, Insignia, and vineyard-designated cabernets from Bacchus and Eisele.
