NAPA -- Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa has a new management team effective today headed by golfing legend and San Francisco native Johnny Miller and including the Dolce Hotels and Resorts.

Mr. Miller, along with Rug Doctor founder Roger Kent, and current Rug Doctor CEO Tim Wall, purchased the 300-acre resort and two 18-hole golf courses for a confidential sum and assumed operations this week. According to PFK Capital, the San Francisco-based consulting firm that brokered the sale, the resort received numerous offers for the property, with $36 million being the highest. The final price tag was not revealed.

Dolce Hotels and Resorts, based in Montvale, N.J., replaces Xanterra Parks & Resorts as Silverado’s management company. Dolce operates 26 upscale hotels throughout North American and Europe, including locations in France, Spain, Belgium and a California location in San Jose, the Hayes Mansion.

Current management at the resort replaced as of Thursday. All employees were offered severance packages based on length of service.

The resort has 400 rentable condominium units, 16 tennis courts, 41,000 square feet of meeting and event space and a 16,000 square foot spa.

In 1989 the property was purchased by former Sega Corporation Chairman Isao Okowa for $110 million.
