Construction

Landscape management firm Gardeners’ Guild Inc. in Richmond was recognized by the California Landscape Contractors Association North Coast Chapter, earning a first place award for its sustainable landscape management program at Spring Lake Village in Santa Rosa.

Santa Rosa-based Western Water Constructors Inc. completed a $38 million project for the Central Marin Sanitation Agency in San Rafael. The wastewater treatment plant expansion project provided more than 14,500 hours to apprentices who are training for employment in the construction industry.

Food & Beverage

Regina Extra Virgin Olive Oil in Napa won a second gold medal at the Los Angeles International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition.

Hospitality & Tourism

Hub Tours opened a pedicab touring company in Napa to provide bicycle taxi service to visitors and locals. Hub Tours is a collaborative effort of Keith Kimbrough, manager of Hub Bicycles, and Alex Fisher.

Insurance

Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. in Novato announced that policyholders with Energy Star buildings are eligible for a five percent discount. Buildings that have earned the Energy Star typically use 35 percent less energy and emit 35 percent less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere than average buildings.

Nonprofit & Community Organizations

Exchange Bank in Santa Rosa was the five-year prime benefactor of Petaluma Educational Foundation’s fundraising BASH, pledging $50,000.

Solar

Solar Sonoma County and Solar Living Institute partnered as the founding sponsors of the SSC Scholarship Program, a series of solar installer training and certification courses to be awarded to selected individuals in need of job re-training and financial assistance.

Technology

Sausalito-based ChannelNet, provider of multichannel marketing solutions, was certified for the sixth year in a row by the Women's Business Enterprise National Council as a firm that meets its national standards of being a majority female-owned, operated, managed and controlled company.

San Rafael-based ClairMail Inc., a provider of mobile banking and payments solutions, was named Best in Class by Javelin Strategy and Research in its new 2010 Mobile Banking Vendor Analysis report.
