Board reopens SCEIP

SANTA ROSA – The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors directed staff to keep the Sonoma County Energy Independence Program (SCEIP) open after it was temporarily suspended. On July 6 the Federal Home Finance Agency (FHFA) issued a statement to lenders with new restrictions that affect lending standards applied to future SCEIP participants. The board said staff will continue to work with Congress to overturn the lending guidelines and directed staff to work with local banks and credit unions to develop options allowing SCEIP participants to be independent of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
