NAPA — Civil engineering firm Riechers Spence & Associates is acquiring land surveying firm Michael W. Brooks & Associates of Yountville as of Aug. 1.

Michael Brooks, PLS, started the firm in 1980 and is retiring after 31 years in surveying. He negotiated a deal with Riechers Spence owners Hugh Linn, Ryan Gregory and Chris Tibbits to acquire his firm’s files, equipment and work in progress.

“This adds to our diversity and positions us well to respond to the market as the economy continues to improve,” said Mr. Gregory, vice president.

Among the three-person team coming to Riechers Spence’s main office in Napa is 28-year firm veteran Robert Serrao, PLS, chief of survey parties. Mr. Tibbits, LS, will be the principal in charge of surveying. Riechers Spence currently employs 25.

Mr. Brooks will be helping with the transition.
