SANTA ROSA -- Agilent Technologies (NYSE: A) today reported fourth-quarter revenues for the Santa Rosa-based Electronic Measurement Group jumped 23 percent from a year ago.

For the year, the group had record growth in orders, revenue, gross margins and operating margins, according to Ron Nersesian, group president.

"These are the strongest results we’ve posted in the last 10 years," he said.

Electronic Measurement had fourth-quarter revenues of $764 million, up from $623 million a year ago. Revenue would have increased 35 percent without the sale of business units to Network Solutions, according to the company.

Group orders in the fourth quarter, ended Oct. 31, were $818 million, compared with $684 million for the fourth fiscal quarter of 2009.

Performing especially well were three product platforms developed in Santa Rosa: network analyzers, spectrum analyzers and signal sources.

All the Electronic Measurement Group’s geographical markets saw more than 20 percent growth, with Japan and Asia, giving the company a 50 percent jump in sales.

"We’ll be distributing our gains to our employees," said Mr. Nersesian. "All EMG employees will receive a 10.1 percent bonus for the second half the year."

The group employs 1,150 in Santa Rosa.

Companywide, fourth-quarter orders increased 28 percent from a year before to $5.74 billion, and net revenue, 21 percent to $5.44 billion.

The share price at the close of trading Friday was $36.36, an increase of 63 cents or nearly 2 percent from Thursday.
