County of Napa to hold groundwater management workshop Feb. 14

Date: Feb. 14, 2011

Time: 1:30 p.m.

Location: Napa County Library Community Room, 580 Coombs St., Napa

At this agendized meeting of the Napa County Board of Supervisors, staff and consultants will present updates on the state of groundwater in Napa County: what we know, what we don’t know, and how groundwater and County functions related to water resources are currently administered.

County consultants Luhdorff & Scalmanini Consulting Engineers were tasked to perform a regional assessment of groundwater conditions to provide a comprehensive perspective of county groundwater resources. The study included evaluation of available data, regional modeling efforts, existing monitoring networks, identification of data gaps, and recommended strategies to improve the reliability and sustainability of county groundwater resources.

The workshop has been scheduled to coincide with the release of the consultant’s report and technical documents, which will be made available via the County’s Web site after the workshop.

Upon conclusion of the workshop the Board of Supervisors is expected to provide direction to staff regarding the recommendations proposed by the consultant.
