The Sonoma County Permit and Resource Management Department will be hosting a public workshop on changes to the Zoning Ordinance and the rules that govern agricultural land under the state Williamson Act.

This meeting is being held in response to concerns raised at Jan. 20 Planning Commission hearing.  Of particular interest are the changes to allow limited agricultural processing in some of the rural residential zones and changes to the Ag Preserve Rules to remove forestry as an agricultural use.   Staff and legal counsel will be available to answer questions from property owners and interested parties and receive input in advance of the next Planning Commission meeting.

The department is preparing changes to the Zoning Ordinance and the rules that govern Williamson Act contracts and agricultural preserves in response to recent changes at the state level. This is an informal workshop with department and legal staff to answer questions and get input on the draft rules and zoning ordinances.

This is not a public hearing with the Planning Commission.

The next Planning Commission public hearing is March 17 at 2 p.m. at the Santa Rosa Veterans Memorial Building, 1351 Maple Ave., Santa Rosa.
