PETALUMA -- Sheraton Sonoma County--Petaluma today said it leased 5,000 more square feet at Basin Street Properties' Petaluma Marina Business Center and renovated the additional space for meetings and banquets.

The extra space represents a 50 percent increase from the hotel's existing 10,000-square-foot conference center and will increase capacity significantly. The largest meeting size now is 680 people, compared with 450 previously. The largest reception possible now is about 1,150 people, compared with 900 before.

"The Sheraton Sonoma County is a popular destination for many business and social functions and we are confident that this new space will continue to attract customers looking for top quality amenities in an elegant environment," said Tom Birdsall, regional partner of Basin Street Properties.

The 5,000 square-foot expansion can be divided into nine separate meeting rooms, the hotel said.

The hotel has 183 guest rooms and is part of the three-building Petaluma Marina Business Center, totaling about 116,380 square feet. Basin Street acquired it in 2010 and has completed a number of capital improvements and upgrades.
