SANTA ROSA -- Michael Kallhoff has been named United Way of the Wine Country's new president and chief executive officer, effective May 31.
“Mike comes to us with a depth of experience working with local United Way organizations in Phoenix, Arizona and Southern Nevada where he led the fundraising efforts and took an active role in helping to define the strategic direction of the organization,” said Brendan Kunkle, chairman of the board of the United Way of the Wine Country. “His enthusiasm for helping others is infectious. We’re very pleased to welcome him to the North Bay.”
Mr. Kallhoff was selected from among many applicants by a search committee assembled by the local United Way. The 11-member committee included staff from United Way and representatives from a cross section of the community including Santa Rosa Mayor Ernesto Olivares; Lisa Carreno, an attorney with law firm Spaulding, McCullough & Tansil; and Oscar Chavez, executive director of Community Action Partnership of Sonoma County.
United Way works in collaboration with many other nonprofit organizations and a group of nonprofit leaders from Sonoma, Lake, Mendocino and Humboldt Counties also participated in the extensive interview process along with several major donors.
“Having already met dozens of Sonoma County residents through the interview process, I am both amazed and excited to see the passion and commitment the residents of this community have to offer,” said Mr. Kallhoff.
Mr. Kallhoff, his wife, Tamara, and two daughters are relocating to Sonoma County. He replaces interim top executive Bill Nordskog, who retired in 2004 from Agilent Technologies after serving as manufacturing manager. Mr. Nordskog has also been a long-time volunteer and supporter of United Way of the Wine Country.
