Copart reports mostly double-digit positive third-quarter growth

FAIRFIELD -- Online vehicle auction company Copart Inc. (Nasdaq: CPRT) today reported fiscal third-quarter revenue, operating income and net income increased 7.4 percent, 13.7 percent and 12.9 percent, respectively, from a year before.

For the quarter, which ended in April, revenue increased from 12 months before by $16.4 million to $236.8 million; operating income, $9.9 million to $82.0 million; and net income, $5.7 million to $50.1 million.

For the nine months ended April 30, revenue increased 12.8 percent from the same period a year before to $656.8 million; operating income, 11.0 percent to $201.8 million; and net income 9.1 percent to $125.9 million.

During the quarter the company repurchased 1.44 million shares of its common stock at a weighted average price of $43.03 per share under its share repurchase program. By quarter-end, Copart had 11.53 million shares available for repurchase.

The company stock price at the end of trading Thursday was $44.41, off $1.78 a share or nearly 4 percent, from the closing price Wednesday.
