Leading economist to address Impact Napa

NAPA -- The Business Journal will host its annual Impact Napa Conference on Sept. 1 featuring highly sought-after economist Chris Thornberg as well as presentations from local experts on issues important to Napa businesses, including wine and tourism.

Dr. Thornberg, an expert in economic forecasting, regional development, real estate dynamics and labor markets, will provide the keynote presentation with an overview of the national and state economies as well as detailed data on Napa County and the regional economy. In addition to being founding principal of Beacon Economics, he is the current chief economist for the California State Controller's office and is the chair of the Controller's council of Economic Advisors.

"If you are wondering about the direction of the economy like a lot of people these days, then you will want to hear what Chris Thornberg has to say," said Business Journal Editor and Associate Publisher Brad Bollinger. "He has a track record of being right about a lot of things good and bad that have happened to our economy."

Local presenters will also provide up-to-date information on key issues currently impacting business in Napa County. Presenters include Clay Gregory, president and CEO of the Napa Valley Destination Council, Mario Zepponi, a winery and investment broker with Zepponi & Company, Michael Palmer, general manager of the Meritage Resort & Spa and Walt Mickens CEO of Queen of the Valley Medical Center.  Feedback and discussion will be encouraged from attendees, providing another level of depth and insight into topics covered.

The event will be held Thursday, Sept. 1 at the Meritage Resort in Napa.
