SANTA ROSA -- Accounting and consulting firm Burr Pilger Mayer announced the hiring of Michelle Ausburn to the firm’s Santa Rosa office today. She joins as a senior manager in the Assurance Services Practice Group, a move that will take effect at the start of 2012.

Ms. Ausburn joins BPM after more than 11 years in public accounting, most recently in the Wine Industry Group at Moss Adams LLP. Her practice focuses on audits and reviews for wineries, vineyards, real estate entities, negociants, custom crush facilities and wine and spirit distribution companies.

“We are thrilled to welcome Michelle to the BPM team,” said Carol O’Hara, managing partner of BPM’s North Bay region and leader of the firm’s wine industry group. “She is well-known and respected amongst her peers and throughout the wine industry, and we are very fortunate she selected BPM.”

In addition to experience in the wine industry, Ms. Ausburn has also served companies in food processing, agriculture, manufacturing, distribution, real estate, health care and the non-profit sector.

“I was attracted by the quality of BPM’s professionals, the firm’s dedication to excellence and commitment to giving back to our community,” Ms. Ausburn said.

Ms. Ausburn received a “Forty Under 40” award from the North Bay Business Journal last year and is a past speaker at both the Wine Industry Technology Symposium and Sonoma State University’s Extended Education program. She is on the planning committee for the CALCPA Society Central Coast Wine Industry Conference and is treasurer for the Napa/Sonoma chapter of Women for WineSense. Ms. Ausburn received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Saint Mary’s College.
