    A team of 17 Redwood Credit Union  employees and family members, along with approximately 60 other community volunteers, recently participated in the third annual Laguna de Santa Rosa Tree-a-Thon, a local tree-planting effort to help preserve the Laguna’s oak woodlands ecosystem, restore lost animal habitats and provide food for the Laguna’s native wildlife. More than 600 trees and shrubs were planted along the Laguna in Sebastopol during the event

    Marketing & Business Development

    The newly formed Professional Services Marketing Group–North Bay (PSMG–North Bay) launched its website and is continuing to provide educational programs for marketers of professional services companies. The group, established in July, is comprised of North Bay-based marketing professionals focusing on raising the quality of their work. It is the brainchild of founders Ted Grafe, market manager at Burr Pilger Mayer; Melinda Hepp, account supervisor at Blattel Communications; and Tiffani Montgomery, marketing coordinator for Smith Dollar. The group aims to bring together a highly capable but under-serviced group of North Bay marketing professionals. Industries represented include legal, AEC, financial, accounting, insurance and business consulting. PSMG–North Bay has experienced rapid growth since its inaugural meeting in July 2011. Mr. Grafe, Ms. Hepp and Ms. Montgomery established a leadership committee, which includes Jenna Loceff of Friedemann Goldberg LLP; Chris Denny, president of creative strategy at The Engine is Red; Elaina Hunt, director of marketing for Summit State Bank; and Amy Schaus, marketing director for Quattrocchi Kwok Architects.     The spa travel website Spas of America recently announced its annual ranking of the Top 100 Spas of 2011. This list was based on consumer behavior from its website. The website, featuring more than 800 spas from around the world, ranked Napa’s  The Meritage Resort’s Spa Terra as  No. 39 globally and No. 8 in California. The Top 100 Spas of 2011 includes 67 spas in the U.S., 30 spas in Canada, and one spa each from Mexico, Costa Rica and Italy. The spa, located in the 22,000 square foot Estate Cave behind The Meritage Resort and under nine acres of private vineyards, recently expanded to include 12 treatment rooms, including four couples’ rooms.

    Nonprofits

    The Children’s Museum of Sonoma County was awarded a $10,000 grant by Wells Fargo.  The gift will be applied towards the capital campaign for “A Place to Wonder,” which seeks to raise funds for indoor exhibits for the new museum. The exhibits will focus on science, nature and the arts. The museum is undergoing a multi-year campaign to raise $1.8 million to finish the indoor exhibits and building upgrades to their site, located at 1835 West Steele Ln. in Santa Rosa, adjacent to the Charles M. Schulz Museum . The museum also recently received a grant from California Parks and Recreation for outdoor exhibits and improvements on the four-acre lot. The museum is slated to open in late 2013.
