PETALUMA — Firma Design Group recently acquired planning and landscape architecture firm Ralph J. Alexander & Associates of Novato.

Ralph Alexander died Oct. 7 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer, according to Michael Cook, vice president of Firma Design.

“Ralph worked up until the last minute and was dedicated to his business and clients,” Mr. Cook said. “He was a renowned landscape architect, working on countless important projects throughout California and Nevada over the past 38 years.”

Mr. Cook worked for Mr. Alexander from 2001–2006. RJA&A (www.RJA-A.com) started 35 years ago.

Firma Design (www.firmadesigngroup.com) is a multidisciplinary planning, civil engineering and landscape architecture firm. Private and public project experience includes streetscapes, downtown redevelopment, urban and rural parks, mixed-use commercial and residential, high-density and single-family residential developments and custom homes.

Firma Design hired RJA&A’s longtime employees, including Carolyn Kintzley, who is now office manager, to assist with the transition and provide hands-on knowledge of projects.
