Forty Under 40 of 2012Business leaders tell us frequently that supporting outstanding young people is critical not just to the health of our companies, but to our economy and community. That point was driven home recently when a young businesswoman said that if it were not groups that have sprung up to support her and others like her, she would have left the community to start her career.

Now, for the sixth consecutive year, the winners of these Forty Under 40 awards reflect an inspiring and substantial pool of young talent across the North Bay. It is our privilege to honor them, support them and shine a light on them for the whole community to see.

When the Business Journal launched this project six years ago, many told us we would never find 40 business leaders under the age of 40. We thought otherwise. Indeed, we have found nearly 250. Their achievements represent both the current dynamism of the North Bay and the promise of the economy in the future.

The winners of the Business Journal’s 2012 Forty Under 40 awards were selected from more than 100 nominees. The winners were selected by the Journal editorial staff on the basis of their leadership in companies and organizations across the North Bay.

Contained in the brief biographies that follow are incredible achievements, good humor, inspiring stories and much sage advice from people so young. Congratulations to this year’s winners and those that preceded them.

The 2012 Forty Under 40 winners will be honored May 2 at a reception hosted by the Business Journal.
