SANTA ROSA — Agilent Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: A), whose Electronic Measurements Group is based in Santa Rosa, today announced it signed a deal with Centellax to acquire the 11-year-old Santa Rosa company’s test-and-measurement business.
The sale is expected to close in two weeks. Financial terms weren’t disclosed.
Privately held Centellax (www.centellax.com) designs and manufactures high-speed analog semiconductor products for 40-, 100- and 400-gigabit-per-second optical communications as well as wireless and microwave applications. That includes bit-error ratio testers and signal generators used for testing high-speed digital communication systems and components.
Centellax’s component business isn’t part of this transaction.

Agilent, which prides itself in leading the market for testing high-speed digital data interfaces, said Centellax has become a recognized private- and public-sector supplier of test products for high-speed communications. Centellax’s test and measurement business augments Agilent’s current position and ongoing investments to cover all requirements in digital I/O and optical transceiver test from deep characterization in R&D to cost-effective test in manufacturing up to and beyond 32G.
