Mastercard pledges $15 million to Green Music Center

ROHNERT PARK -- Mastercard Worldwide has entered into a $15 million sponsorship arrangement with Sonoma State University’s Donald & Maureen Green Music Center, the largest such sponsorship secured by the university in its history.

The money for the center, which is currently nearing completion, will fund the creation of an outdoor music and performing arts pavilion at the complex, according to an announcement from the university.

The pavilion will adjoin the Joan and Sanford I. Weill Hall, named for the couple who donated $12 million to the center in March 2011. That donation also included a $4 million dollar-for-dollar matching grant for the construction of an outdoor music venue.

Plans for the outdoor pavilion are currently under development. Green Music Center is expected to open for its first performances later this year.
