Summit State Bank hired Peggy Wyman as its new branch manager in Rohnert Park. Ms. Wyman has worked in the banking industry for over 30 years and has lived in Rohnert Park for 28 years. She most recently worked as branch manager in Petaluma for Sonoma Bank. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Rebuilding Together Petaluma and serves on numerous other boards.
Sanovas Inc. appointed Stephen C. Schimpff, M.D., a former University of Maryland Medical Center CEO, as chairman of its scientific advisory board. Dr. Schimpff has more than four decades of experience as a physician and health care administrator. He served as the CEO of the University of Maryland Medical Center, which includes the world’s preeminent trauma center and a National Cancer Institute (NCI) – designated cancer center. He was the founding director of the University of Maryland (now Greenebaum) Cancer Center and went on to become the University of Maryland Medical System’s executive vice president and chief operating officer.
Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company appointed Leslie Rippley to the position of commercial insurance zone executive for the West.
In this new role, Ms. Rippley will have underwriting responsibility and leadership for Fireman’s Fund’s middle market and small business in the West zone. Ms. Rippley will be based in Fireman’s Fund’s Chicago office. She has experience in underwriting, sales, marketing and claims, and in both personal and commercial insurance lines. Most recently, she served as a regional sales director for Travelers, and held leadership positions at Liberty Mutual and Hartford.
Allen Gummer is stepping down, when his term ends in August, after serving on the Redwood Empire Food Bank’s board of directors for six years. Mr. Gummer will continue to serve a vital role on the REFB’s Capital Campaign Finance Committee. He thanked the board for the opportunity to serve an efficient organization that maximizes efforts to help the greatest number of people.
Grace Chen has been named director of marketing at the raceway in Sonoma. Ms. Chen will manage and oversee all aspects of marketing, including advertising campaigns around the raceway’s major events. She will also oversee the raceway’s Web-site, social networking and at-event entertainment, as well as developing new and creative ways to market the raceway. Prior to coming to the raceway, Ms. Chen was the Director of Marketing for the NBA’s Sacramento Kings.
Joseph Phelps Vineyards appointed Will Phelps as sales representative. In this position, he will support National Sales Manager K.K. Dirickson and Regional Sales Manager Jim Phelps with sales and distribution of Joseph Phelps wines in California. He grew up in the Napa Valley and graduated from the University of San Diego with a degree in Business Administration. He then traveled to France to work the 2008 harvest at Domaine E. Guigal in the Northern Rhône Valley. Prior to joining Joseph Phelps Vineyards, he successfully completed a harvest internship at Paul Cluver Winery in Elgin Valley, South Africa.
Londer Vineyards in Anderson Valley announced Eric Stern as its new consulting winemaker. His first crush was at Acacia in Napa Valley. He then worked at Carmenet in Sonoma. In 1989, he began his long tenure at Landmark Vineyards in Windsor.
PlumpJack Winery hired Aaron Miller to the position of head winemaker. Mr. Miller brings more than 12 years of international experience. Mr. Miller comes to PlumpJack Winery from Lewis Cellars, having been promoted from assistant winemaker to associate winemaker at the Napa winery. Prior to this position, he spent more than three years at Groth Vineyards & Winery in Oakville, where he held the position of enologist and quality control manager. Mr. Miller’s previous winery experience includes stints at Rimu Grove Winery, Nelson, New Zealand; Antinori Tenuta Tignanello, Mercetale, Italy; Edna Valley Vineyards, San Luis Obispo, California; and Pine Ridge Winery.
Christopher Hansen has been promoted to general manager of Seguin Moreau Napa Cooperage. Mr. Hansen will be in charge of day-to-day operations of the cooperage. He will continue to manage sales, which he has done since 2010. Mr. Hansen, who graduated from the University of California, San Diego, began his cooperage career in 2004 and joined Seguin Moreau Napa Cooperage in 2008. After covering Napa and Oregon sales, he was promoted to Sales Manager in 2010.
