NOVATO — BioMarin will soon move into 120,000 square feet of offices in San Rafael Corporate Center, the result of a significant expansion that will generate 100 new jobs for the Novato-based pharmaceutical company that specializes in making treatments for rare and serious disease. BioMarin plans on having 345 research-and-development and administrative jobs at the new site.

The company has grown from 250 employees in 2004 to more than 1,000 worldwide, including more than 800 in Novato, its 20,000-square-foot research-and-development satellite office on the Peninsula and its recently acquired production plant in Ireland.
A number of treatments, in various phases of development, are driving the company’s growth, along with U.S. and international clinical testing and production. BioMarin has said it expects to have seven products in clinical trials — the most in the company’s history.
