The California Health Benefits Exchange, now known as Covered California, selected Pedro Toledo to serve on its marketing, outreach and enrollment assistance advisory groups, which will work on developing and implementing statewide strategies for signing up people up for health care options under the Affordable Care Act. Mr. Toledo is currently director of community and government relations for Petaluma-based Redwood Community Health Coalition, a consortium of federally qualified health centers across Marin, Sonoma, Napa and Yolo counties.
Aaron Poole has accepted the position of Mendocino regional controller for Howard Memorial Hospital and Ukiah Valley Medical Center, both of which are affiliated with Adventist Health. Mr. Poole received his BBA from Walla Walla University and is currently pursuing his MBA. He is a CPA with previous health care experience in the Adventist Health system, including planning and implementation of a new budget management reporting software. Mr. Poole will work primarily from the Howard Memorial campus in Willits, helping to fill the void left by Julie Vichi, and will provide accounting oversight for Howard Memorial and Ukiah Valley.
The Petaluma Health Center added four new members to its board of directors. The are: Pedro Toledo, a Petaluma resident interested in expanding access to care to underserved populations to improve the health status of the community. He is also in the board of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Sonoma County, and has served on the boards of the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professional Network and La Clinica de la Raza in Oakland. He has a law degree from Cornell University and a master’s degree and bachelor’s degree from Stanford University. Gloria Robinson, a longtime Petaluma community activist and health center patient. She was the founder of Petaluma Blacks for Community Development. She has worked as food service manager for the Old Adobe Union School District and previously was a dietetic supervisor for a skilled nursing facility in Marin County. Joe Tambe, a Petaluma resident who has been active as a business owner and volunteer with community organizations. Mr. Tambe has been a commercial arbitrator and co-founded Inland Valleys Arbitration Mediation Service, a nonprofit in Southern California. Georgina Warmoth, a Rohnert Park resident and and a health center patient. Ms. Warmoth has been an advocate for Latino issues for 40 years and taken an active role in promoting Mexican culture. She was formerly president of the Latino Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services and served as treasurer for the Latino Democratic Club. Other members who joined the Petaluma Health Center Board of Directors in the last year include Jennifer Harrington, a Petaluma resident who is a respiratory therapist with Kaiser Permanente in the Marin-Sonoma service area, and Tony Sarno, a Petaluma resident who works in the commercial real estate field and serves on the board of the Petaluma Area Chamber of Commerce.
Stephanie Cunningham joined Sonoma-based Bolt Staffing, where she will take over responsibility for sourcing and placing candidates for clients looking to bring experienced new people into their organizations. Her background includes four years as a staffing professional with Volt Workforce Solutions.
Schweiger Vineyards in St. Helena announced the promotion of James Eyer to general manager. Mr. Eyer has worked at Schweiger Vineyards for five years, previously as the tasting room manager. A St. Helena native, Mr. Eyer was hired in 2007 as a tasting room associate. He attended Pacific Union College, where he majored in history, and is currently enrolled in Sonoma State University’s Executive MBA program.
David Sandri has joined Compliance Connection in Santa Rosa as a compliance specialist. Mr. Sandri will be consulting within the wine industry in the areas of start-up permits, permit and license maintenance, distilled spirits plants, operations and operations reporting. He has written and taught wine industry subjects at a number of institutions, including Sonoma State University, CIA-Greystone Campus, Lodi Amateur Vintners Association and Lodi ZinFest.
The McWilliams family, owners of Arista Winery in Healdsburg, appointed Matt Courtney as winemaker. Most recently, Mr. Courtney spent eight years with Marcassin Wine Company. He has extensive experience crafting pinot noir and chardonnay for Marcassin. Mr. Courtney moved to the Bay Area when he was 10 years old and studied philosophy at the University of California, Berkeley. He completed a degree in viticulture and enology at UC Davis in 2004 and then joined Marcassin.
