St. Helena-based Albion Surveys announced John “Steve” Parrish as the newest member to its land surveying team. Mr. Parrish has been in the industry for 50 years, starting with the U.S. Forest Service where he held a variety of positions across five western national forests until joining the U.S. Bureau of Land Management in 1985. While at the bureau, he rose to the title of Nevada Cadastral Chief overseeing public land surveys. In late 1995, he pursued private surveying work for three years, until he joined Tri State Surveying in 1999 where he remained through mid 2012.
Cardiologist Monica Divakaruni, M.D., has joined Adventist Health-operated St. Helena Hospital Clear Lake. Dr. Divakaruni is board-certified in interventional cardiology. Her skill set and level of expertise focuses on innovative treatment options of complex cardiac conditions using diagnostic testing and the most advanced cardiac catheterization techniques. She attended Stanford University. Dr. Divakaruni is part of the Adventist Heart Institute, a heart center made up of a team of experienced cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons who serve patients in Napa, Lake and Mendocino counties. Dr. Divakaruni is now accepting new patients. Her office is located at 15250 Lakeshore Dr., Ste. C, in Clearlake.
Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation announced the addition of Aruna Krishnan Jayaraman, M.D., to its network of gastroenterologists in Santa Rosa. Dr. Jayaraman, board-certified in gastroenterology, received her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College. She also holds a master of health sciences degree from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. She completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and she completed a fellowship in gastroenterology and transplant hepatology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her primary language is English and she also speaks Tamil. Dr. Jayaraman’s offices are located at 1210 Sonoma Ave. #B in Santa Rosa
Francine Halberg, M.D., radiation oncologist and breast cancer specialist at Marin General Hospital’s Marin Cancer Institute, is among 12 nationally prominent researchers and physicians named as 2012 Fellows of the American Society for Radiation Oncology. Primary considerations for awarding Fellow status are excellence in research, patient care, education and leadership and service. Dr. Halberg is a steering committee member of the Marin County Women’s Study, which looks at how breast cancer risk factors affect women differently. Dr. Halberg received her undergraduate degree from Stanford University and her medical degree from Cornell University. She was on the radiation oncology faculties of Stanford University and the University of California San Francisco prior to joining Marin General Hospital.
Tammy Brawner, a former Dominican University of California women’s basketball player and Dominican MBA grad from Oakland and Skyline High School, is the 10th female to play for the Harlem Globetrotters in its history.
Marin Theatre Company’s board of directors has named Michael Barker as the nonprofit theater company’s new managing director. Currently the general manager of Laguna Playhouse in Laguna Beach, Mr. Barker will assume his full-time duties at MTC on Feb. 25. Mr. Barker holds an MFA in theater management from Yale School of Drama and an MBA from Yale School of Management. He has served numerous theater companies across the country in a variety of capacities — including the Antaeus Company in Los Angeles as managing director, Yale Repertory Theatre as associate managing director, Seattle Repertory Theatre as managing director fellow and Court Theatre in Chicago as associate director of marketing.
Jade Barrett has been named winemaker for the Howell Mountain Cabernet house. Karen Culler, who has worked with Ladera Vineyards since its first vintage, will remain a winemaking consultant, ensuring stylistic consistency. Mr. Barrett joined Ladera Vineyards as associate winemaker in March 2012. Previously, he was with Jericho Canyon Vineyards in Calistoga for nearly six years, where he helped oversee the completion of the Jericho Canyon Vineyards’ winery facility and the production of their first estate wines. The New Zealand native became a cellar supervisor at Vine Cliff Winery in Napa Valley in 2002. Afterward, he was hired as the assistant winemaker for Lewis Cellars.
