    BKF Engineers hired Erik Bjornstrom, EIT as a staff engineer. Mr. Bjornstrom graduated Summa Cum Laude from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in December 2012.

    Education

    College of Marin hired Jonathan Eldridge as new vice president of Student Services. The new vice president of student services position was created as part of an institutional reorganization designed to achieve new objectives as outlined in the college’s Strategic Plan 2012–2015. Mr. Eldridge received a bachelor’s degree in history with a minor in political science from Central Washington University. He holds a master’s degree from Colorado State University in student affairs in higher education.

    Law

    Attorney Michael Pfeifer has joined Santa Rosa-based law firm Smith Dollar PC. Mr. Pfeifer will head the firm’s office in Orange. Mr. Pfeifer has over 35 years of experience representing clients in the financial services industry, with particular emphasis on lender liability defense, financial fraud investigation and recovery, regulatory compliance and creditor representation in bankruptcy. He is currently general counsel, a member of the board of directors, and the chair of the quality assurance committee for the California Mortgage Bankers Association. 

    Also joining the firm’s Orange County office are attorneys Annabelle de la Mora and Libby Wong. Ms. de la Mora has over 25 years of experience in complex civil litigation matters and was formally vice president and associate counsel at Fidelity National Title Insurance Company. Ms. Wong has over a decade of experience in mortgage banking and commercial litigation with an emphasis on lender liability defense, mortgage fraud recovery, and construction defect.

    Nonprofits

    Steve Eckert

    Buckelew Programs named Steve Eckert, LCSW, as the organization’s new executive director. He is set to take the helm of one of the North Bay’s largest such nonprofits on Jan. 31. The previous executive director, Steve Ramsland, stepped down soon after the merger of Buckelew and Farm Service Agency of Marin last February. For the past eight years, Mr. Eckert has been the executive director of East Bay Agency for Children, which provides therapeutic, educational and family support services for more than 20,000 children and families. During his time in charge, the agency won a number of awards for notable nonprofit operation.

    Kim Kaselionis has been named to the governing board of the Women’s Inititative for Self-Employment, a national organization headquartered in Novato, and elected to the Marin Women’s Hall of Fame, with five others. The hall includes Sen. Barbara Boxer and Isabelle Allende as well as her mother, Kit Cole, among others. In 26 years, only 122 women have received the honor.

    The Press Democrat appointed Jennifer Williams as director of advertising. In her new role, she will lead the company’s print and digital advertising sales efforts. She was most recently the director of strategic development at The Press Democrat, and was a key member of the leadership team that created the PD Media Lab, which develops digital solutions that connect businesses with their customers.

    Residential Real Estate

    Gary Martell

    Blu Homes, Inc. announced that Gary Martell has joined the company as chief financial officer. Mr. Martell, who has over 25 years of corporate finance experience and has completed IPOs and major M&A transactions for several high-tech and manufacturing companies, will oversee all finance and administration activities at Blu, working out of the company’s Vallejo factory. He joined Blu from MicroProbe, which provides technology solutions to global semiconductor manufacturers, where he served as CFO. Prior to his experience at MicroProbe, Mr. Martell served as the CFO of UPEK and Stion. He also served as chief operating officer of Cobalt Networks. At Sun Microsystems, Mr. Martell became vice president of network storage operations and managed the division’s internal operations.

    Visit Napa Valley promoted Sonyia Grabski to vice president, consumer direct marketing. Ms. Grabski joined Visit Napa Valley in June 2011 and oversees all digital and consumer direct marketing, including CRM, website, SEM/SEO, social media strategies and the operations of the Napa Valley Welcome Center. Ms. Grabski has more than a decade of experience in direct-to-consumer wine sales and client relations at Constellation Wines and Terlato International.

    Cline Cellars and Jacuzzi Family Vineyards promoted Keith Morris to vice president and national sales manager. As VP, Mr. Morris will support the wineries’ strategic growth initiatives and oversee both wineries’ networks of Regional Managers, brokers, and wholesale distributors from the Rocky Mountains to the East Coast. Mr. Morris joined Cline Cellars and Jacuzzi Family Vineyards in 2007 as regional manager for the Great Lakes territory, overseeing sales and implementing marketing initiatives in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Prior to joining Cline and Jacuzzi, he spent nearly a decade with Heidelberg Distributing Company in Ohio, where he served as general manager of the company’s fine wine division.
