SANTA ROSA — Annadel Medical Group, an affiliate of St. Joseph Health, plans to open an after-hours primary care clinic in Santa Rosa staffed by both physicians and nurse practitioners, a move aimed at expanding access to care.

The new clinic, set to open Feb. 18 at 52 Mission Cir., will establish “affordable care during nontraditional hours” to both existing Annadel patients and new patients who may not have a regular physician, according the medical group.

“Our after-hours clinic will serve as an extension of patients’ primary care experience by being available, with or without an appointment, on evenings and weekends, and by documenting patients’ care in an electronic medical record that facilitates communication back to their primary care team,” said Bob Just, vice president of administration for the Annadel Medical Group and St. Joseph Heritage Healthcare in Northern California.

The clinic will be staffed on a rotating basis by board-certified Annadel family practitioners Herb Brosbe, M.D., Marisha Chilcott, M.D., and Jenny Marie Sullivan, M.D. At the new site, they will treat the full range of illnesses seen at their main offices adjacent to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, including:

    • Cold and flu symptoms
    • Sore throat, ear or sinus infections
    • Urinary tract infections
    • Mild asthma
    • Fever or rash
    • Minor cuts and burns
    • Sprains and minor injuries
    • Chronic disease

The clinic will also allow for same-day and walk-in appointments, less-expensive care with shorter wait times than a hospital emergency room and well-coordinated care if follow up visits are necessary, according to Annadel.

“We’re very focused on continuity of care,” Dr. Herb Brosbe said. “This way, another doctor consulted the next day will know why — and for what — we saw the patient at the after-hours clinic.”

The new site also is close to a 24-hour Walgreens store with a pharmacy.

“Medicine needs to be more customer-oriented,” Dr. Chilcott said. “This type of expansion and shift in medicine is absolutely required if we are to more fully meet patients’ needs.”

Annadel Medical Group (annadelmedicalgroup.com) has 62 care providers in Santa Rosa and Petaluma.

The clinic will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
