WINDSOR — Viveka Rydell, chief executive officer of the nonprofit dental provider PDI Surgery, was given the 2013 Women’s Achievement Award by the Swedish American Chamber of Commerce of San Francisco and Silicon Valley.

Ms. Rydell, who was born in Sweden, has headed PDI for the past five years, treating low-income children who lack access to full dental care. She was previously a litigation attorney in San Francisco.

PDI Surgery has performed dental surgery on more than 8,200 children in the last five years. Located in Windsor, the dental surgery center provides an oral surgery resource for children from low-income families, and children and adults with developmental disabilities, throughout Northern California.

Ms. Rydell graduated from UC Berkeley School of Law in 1997. Before joining PDI, she worked as a litigator for eight years with San Francisco-based Bingham McCutchen, and Colbentz Patch, Duffy & Bass.
