MPK Sonoma shuts down

SONOMA -- Food products co-packer MPK Sonoma Corp. shut down at the end of February after a customer that made up 95 percent of revenue took production in-house in March.

MPK owner Charles Boles had tried to find replacement customers or a buyer for the business since Clorox in November announced its decision to take over production of the Soy Vay brand of salad dressings and marinades. On Feb. 28, MPK let go its 14 employees and ceased operations, according to Mr. Boles. An undisclosed company purchased the equipment on March 26. MPK's lease of the 48,600-square-foot facility at 21684 Eighth St. E. expired in March.
