Conference will cap 'Invest Local Month' in Sonoma County

SANTA ROSA -- A coalition of regional economy-focused organizations including the Sonoma County Go Local Cooperative will host its second-annual Invest Local Conference on Sept. 26, part of a month-long series of events held under the banner of "Invest Local Month."

The conference, at Santa Rosa's Flamingo Hotel, will feature lectures on subjects such as crowdfunding, economic vitality, local food and energy systems and other topics tailored for entrepreneurs, investors and business consultants.

Featured speakers include Janelle Orsi and Jenny Kassan, who together founded the Sustainable Economies Law Center in Oakland. Ms. Orsi is the author of Practicing Law in the Sharing Economy, and Ms. Kassan is a community development consultant, and CEO of the business consulting firm Cutting Edge Capital.

Events to be held throughout the month include tours of Sonoma County's business incubators, discussions concerning local financing and film presentations.

Other partners in the efforts include the Leadership Institute for Ecology and the Economy, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Santa Rosa, North Bay Slow Money and CoIgnite

Tickets for the Invest Local Conference, held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., range from $25 to $60 depending on the time attended and whether lunch is included.
