Tom Scott, general manager of Oliver’s Markets, has been appointed to the board of directors of Community First Credit Union. The Santa Rosa-based financial cooperative had a vacancy when longtime board member Jim Leddy left the area to take the job of chief administrative officer for Mono County. Under Mr. Scott’s management, Oliver’s was named “Retailer of the Year” by the National Association of Specialty Food Dealers in both 2005 and 2013.
Effective Nov. 29 with the closing of the Bank of Alameda merger, Kevin Kennedy, previously a director of NorCal and Bank of Alameda, has joined the Bank of Marin Bancorp and Bank of Marin boards of directors. Mr. Kennedy resides in Alameda. He is currently serving his fourth term as Alameda City Treasurer and is very active in the local community.
Bank of Marin also hired Pat McCarty as first vice president, special assets manager. Mr. McCarty joins Bank of Marin with more than 35 years of experience in financial services having served in various credit management, commercial lending and leadership roles. Most recently, he was senior vice president and Novato business banking manager for Umpqua Bank. Prior to that, he was senior vice president and chief credit officer of Circle Bank also in Novato.
The Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce board of directors has announced a restructuring and expansion of its leadership team for 2014. Beginning Jan. 2, Jim Welte, the former regional editor of Patch, will join the Chamber as director of membership and community engagement on a part-time basis.
The Solano Coalition for Better Health has selected Joanie Erickson as its executive director, announced Coalition Board President Max Villalobos. Ms. Erickson began the position on Dec. 2. Ms. Erickson has worked in nonprofit health care in Solano County since 1984. She has served as the director of public relations for NorthBay Healthcare and most recently as the director of public affairs for the Kaiser Permanente Napa-Solano region.
Margo Zatkovich has recently joined Runaway Brides of Santa Rosa, a partnership of Bret Smallwood and Jon Moore. She previously worked as banquet director and in sales for the Fountaingrove Golf and Athletic Club in Santa Rosa.
Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company announced that John Elliott has joined the company as chief information officer. Mr. Elliott will be responsible for developing and implementing the technology strategy to achieve the company’s business objectives. He will oversee the current IT teams in IT Enterprise Architecture, IT Infrastructure Services, IT Application Services, and IT Strategy and Special Projects. He will work closely with operations, Allianz Group partners, and business leaders. Mr. Elliott has over 20 years of technology leadership and has worked as both a senior IT leader and as a technology consultant. Most recently, Mr. Elliott served as the senior vice president and chief information officer for Aon Risk Solutions. Before that, he was with Bear Stearns where he ran the global IT Program Management Office and was the head of the Outsource and Offshore Program. He has also worked for McKinsey and Company.
Heffernan Insurance Brokers recently hired Jeff Prout to join its North Bay office in Petaluma as assistant vice president. Mr. Prout’s background includes consulting, sales and marketing in the insurance and banking industries along with property and business ownership and management. Building on his experience in property and casualty production and account management, Mr. Prout will focus on new business development for all commercial lines for Heffernan.
Donna Mooney was named chief assistant city attorney for the city of Vallejo, replacing former assistant city attorney John Nagel who was hired as the city attorney in East Palo Alto. Prior to joining the city of Vallejo, Ms. Mooney was employed with the city of Alameda City Attorney’s Office for 11 years. Before that, she worked as a research attorney in civil law and motion in Alameda County Superior Court, and was an associate at a law firm. She was appointed by the State Bar of California Board of Governors to the Public Law Executive Committee for a three-year term ending this year, and has served on the Fair Political Practice Commission committee of the League of California Cities City Attorneys’ Department.
Summit Engineering Human Resources Manager Casi Jewett has joined the board of directors at The Community Child Care Council of Sonoma County. Ms. Jewett, born in Santa Rosa and raised in Forestville, received her BA in psychology from Sierra Nevada College in Lake Tahoe, and her MA in organization development from Sonoma State University. She started in the nonprofit sector working with children who were victims of abuse.

Decker Bullock Sotheby’s International Realty, Inc. announced Patricia Oxman has joined the firm. Ms. Oxman has more than 23 years of experience in Marin County real estate, specializing in distinctive properties. Ms. Oxman will be based in the Decker Bullock Sotheby’s International Realty office at 189 Sir Francis Drake Blvd. in Greenbrae.
Mary Kay Yamamoto of Re/MAX of Central Marin in San Rafael was named “Realtor of the Year” by the Marin Association of Realtors. Ms. Yamamoto joined the Association in 1980 and founded Re/MAX of Central Marin in San Rafael in 1990. She has earned several real estate designations including the Certified Residential Specialist, Certified Distressed Property Expert and Seniors Real Estate Specialist. In addition to having served on the board of directors and committees, she was the Association’s president in 2011 and is currently representing the Marin Association of Realtors at the state level.
Blaine Morris was named 2014 president of the Marin Association of Realtors. Mr. Morris is a realtor with Coldwell Banker in Greenbrae. Alan Garber of All California Mortgage in Larkspur was named “Affiliate of the Year;” Marilyn Riede of Coldwell Banker in Greenbrae received the “Distinguished Service Award;” Barbara Ivy of Bradley Real Estate in Novato was presented with the “Making a Difference Award;” and Matt Hughes of Holmes Burrell Real Estate in Fairfax received the “Next Generation Award.”
The following Realtors were installed as association officers who will take office on Jan. 1: President-elect Nate Sumner of Coldwell Banker in San Rafael; Treasurer Arun Burrell of Holmes Burrell Real Estate in Fairfax; and Secretary Matt Hughes of Holmes Burrell Real Estate in Fairfax. Immediate Past-President Jack Wilkinson of Bradley Real Estate in San Rafael will serve as an ex-officio member of the board of directors in 2014.
