SANTA ROSA — A rapidly growing Ohio-based construction and industrial supply group of companies has acquired the assets of Santa Rosa-based Wyatt Irrigation Supply, Inc., started three decades ago and operating stores in Sonoma, Napa and Mendocino counties.

The acquisition is part of a move began last year by WinWholesale, Inc., part of the Dayton, Ohio-based Win Group of Companies, into the irrigation and landscape business, the group announced Tuesday.

As part of the deal, Purchasing Manager Scott Leytem, who was been with the company since 1996, was named president. Founder Phil Wyatt will be leaving the company after the transition.

“We have the same excellent team to serve their needs that continues to be committed to outstanding products and service,” Mr. Leytem said.

WinWholesaleWinWholesale President Jack Johnston in a statement said the transition should be seamless.

“We are very pleased that Wyatt has joined the Win Group of Companies and will continue providing its valued customers the same great service as it has in the past,” he said.

Wyatt Irrigation’s stores in Santa Rosa, Napa, Petaluma and Ukiah bring the number of WinWholesale locations with irrigation and landscape supplies to 26, carrying names such as Winsupply, Winnelson and Winwater Works. More existing locations are expected to add irrigation and landscape products in the new year.

WinWholesale (winwholesale.com) , said to be one of the largest national distributors of supplies for residential and commercial construction as well as industrial operations, has 560 wholesaling locations in 45 states, including Win-branded companies, Noland Company, Carr Supply and Wyatt Irrigation Co.

After years in manufacturing of hard plastics and irrigation equipment sales, Mr. Wyatt started Wyatt Irrigation Supply (707-578-3747, wyattsupply.com) in 1982 across Yolanda Avenue from the current location of the flagship Santa Rosa store. The company expanded to Ukiah a few years later, to Napa Valley in 2003 and to Petaluma in 2008.

Wyatt Irrigation Supply started in landscape irrigation but expanded into fire protection as plastic pipe suitable for rural sprinkler systems reached the market. The company also jumped into agricultural irrigation and frost-protection systems, which account for 65 percent of sales. Wyatt Irrigation also has expanded into hydroponics supplies.

From three employees the company has grown to about 30. The company was the seventh-largest irrigation equipment supplier in the North Bay this year, according to the Business Journal Book of Lists.
