Mr. Alexander joined Sutter’s West Bay Region management team as director of strategy in 2011 and served as the hospital’s assistant administrator from September 2012 until being named CAO. Prior to joining Sutter Health, he worked in managed care contracting and human resources for the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago and was a lead consultant with Health Care Futures located in Chicago. Mr. Alexander earned a bachelor of arts degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., and his master’s in business administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

A 26-year resident of Santa Rosa, Dr. Carvolth has worked for 31 years as an emergency physician at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and since 1997 as an executive leader in the Bay Area and beyond in hospital-based physician services. He holds a master’s degree in medical management from the Heinz School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University, trained in general surgery at UCSF, and earned his doctor of medicine degree at Cornell University.     Medical Group Administrator Guy Chicoine joined Kaiser Permanente two decades ago. He moved to his current position in Santa Rosa four years ago after serving as director of national delivery system leaders at Kaiser’s Program Office in Oakland. His primary duties include overseeing strategy and operations for the outpatient clinics, lab, radiology, and emergency room in conjunction with the physician-in-chief of the medical center. Additionally, he works closely with Kaiser’s unions to develop a culture of performance improvement at the Santa Rosa Medical Center.

    As senior vice president and area manager for Kaiser Permanente since 2004, Judy Coffey is the chief executive for all area hospital and health plan operations serving more than 267,000 members in Sonoma and Marin counties. She has been with Kaiser for more than 30 years, serving in a variety of positions in hospitals and medical groups. She is also a member of the American Heart Association executive board, North Bay Hospital Council, Sonoma County Health Action, Sonoma County Workforce Investment Board and other community groups. Ms. Coffey was a Business Journal Women in Business winner and was honored as 2009 Business Woman of the Year by the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce. She is a registered nurse and has a bachelor’s degree in management and an MBA.

    Lee Domanico has led hospitals and health systems across the country. Currently, he is CEO of Marin Healthcare District and Marin General Hospital, in Marin County, where he led the transfer of the hospital from a large system to a successful free standing publicly accountable hospital. He financed and built the operating and governance organization that currently oversees Marin General Hospital. Recently the hospital raised $400 million in public funding for recapitalization. Prior to Marin General, he led El Camino Hospital in Mountain View. Under his leadership El Camino Hospital became one of the most profitable district hospitals in the state and developed superlative medical programs. Mr. Domanico has worked in health care for more than 30 years. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and his Master’s degree from Stanford University.

    Jeff Eller was named president of Adventist Health’s Northern California Network in Dec. 2013. Prior to his current role, Mr. Eller served as vice president at Glendale Adventist Medical Center. In addition, he served as executive director of diagnostic and support services at San Joaquin Community Hospital and held a variety of administrative positions at Shawnee Mission Medical Center and Kettering Medical Center. Mr. Eller was top executive of Sonora Regional Medical Center, a 72-bed acute-care facility, for five years.

He has 30-plus years of health care leadership experience, including a stint as vice president of operations for 80-bed Petaluma Valley Hospital. Prior to that, he was the chief administrative officer for Hawaii Health System Corp.’s Maui region, which included Maui Memorial Medical Center, Kula Hospital, where he was chief executive officer, and Lanai Hospital. Previously, he was president of John Muir Medical Center–Concord, chief executive officer of Chinese Hospital in San Francisco and a senior executive at Pacific Presbyterian Medical Center, now California Pacific, in San Francisco. He earned an MBA from University of Chicago Graduate School of Business with honors after serving as an Army Medical Service Corps.     Howard Himes is the director of the county of Napa’s Health and Human Services Agency. Mr. Himes oversees a staff of more than 400 employees, with 10 division managers and an $89 million annual budget. Previously, he was director of Fresno County Department of Social Services. He started there in 1987. He is also an adjunct professor at California State University in Fresno, and is active statewide on many boards, committees and centers related to children, families, social services and racial equality. He has an undergraduate degree in psychology from UC Davis, and his master’s degree in social work from Fresno State University.

    Kimberly Horton is the chief operating officer for Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Medical Center, where she oversees the daily operations of the medical center. Prior to coming to Vallejo, Dr. Horton served as senior vice president and chief nurse executive with the Alameda Health System. She holds a master of science in nursing and a doctorate in health administration and is a member of the Association of California Nurse Leaders, Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society, American Organization of Nurse Executives, and is a fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives.

    Deborah Howell is CEO of Alexander Valley Healthcare, the North Bay’s newest federal qualified health center. She was named executive director in 2006 and was promoted to CEO in 2011.She has been with the health center since August, 2000. In Cloverdale, she oversaw the move to the present location at 6 Tarman Dr. and the recent installation of electronic medical records, a huge undertaking for a small healthcare center. The Cloverdale-based health center also serves Geyserville and surrounding areas with primary care, behavioral health and counseling.

    Cheryl Johnson, CEO of the Sonoma Valley Community Health Center, has served the community in this capacity since July 2012, after serving as the interim CEO at the federally qualified health center for five months. She joined the health center with 18 years of public health experience, including district hospitals and community health centers. SVCHC was opened in 1992 as a freestanding primary care clinic. It has since grown in capacity and is the only safety-net health care provider for Medicaid and the uninsured in the area.

    Dr. Wayne Keiser is co-CEO of Redwood Regional Medical Group, a Santa Rosa-based medical oncology practice with locations throughout the North Bay . He graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry. He attended Stanford Medical School where also completed his residency work and has a fellowship from Yale University in medical oncology. Dr. Keiser joined Redwood Regional Medical Group in 1977 and presently serves as principal investigator for Redwood’s gastrointestinal clinical trials.     Pat Kendall is the medical group administrator at Kaiser Permanente San Rafael Medical Center and has held this position for the past 23 years. Last year, Ms. Kendall received the city of San Rafael Citizen of the Year Award, and the North Bay Leadership Council Caught in the Act of Leadership Award in 2012, and the North Bay Business Journal Women in Business Award in 2003. She holds degrees in nursing, business, organizational development and human resources with an emphasis on leadership and change management.     Sonia Lee is the clinical director of pediatrics at Community Health Clinic Ole, Napa County’s only federally qualified health center. Dr. Lee is also former chairman of the pediatric, OB and newborn care department at Queen of the Valley Medical Center. She is a board member and alumna of Pacific Union College. Dr. Lee obtained her medical degree from Loma Linda University and received pediatric training from U.C. Los Angeles. Prior to Clinic Ole, she was a five-year pediatric faculty member at U.C. Davis-affiliated Stanislaus County Family Medicine Residency Program and honored as faculty of the year during that time. She worked at Kaiser Permanente as a general pediatrician for four years.

    Mary Maddux-González is chief executive officer and chief medical officer for Redwood Community Health Coalition, a coalition of 16 community health centers in Sonoma, Napa, Marin and Yolo counties. It provided health care to more than 196,000 rural and low-income patients in 2011. From 2000 to 2011, Dr. González was Sonoma County public health officer and director of its Public Health Division. She is also an associate clinical professor at the University of San Francisco’s Department of Family and Community Medicine.

    Kelly Mather is president and chief executive officer of Sonoma Valley Hospital, owned by Sonoma Valley Heath Care District. She has been in her current position since July 2010. Previously, she was chief executive officer of San Leandro Hospital and of Sutter Health’s Lakeside Hospital Lakeport. He joined that part of the organization as chief operating officer in September 2009 and for three years oversaw inpatient, outpatient and community outreach operations that employ 2,239 people at Santa Rosa Memorial and Petaluma Valley hospitals, along with a wide range of non-hospital-based services throughout the county. Mr. Salnas came to St. Joseph Health from his former post as chief operating officer for Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital, a 444-bed facility in Whittier. Previously, he served as administrative director for Phoenix Baptist Hospital and Medical Center and as a financial and medical management resident for HealthPartners Health Plan of Phoenix. He holds a dual master’s degree in business administration and health sciences administration from Arizona State University.

    Rita Scardaci

    Rita Scardaci has been director of the Sonoma County Department of Health Services since 2005, overseeing a $200 million-plus budget and 750 employees. She also helped form the Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency Consortium and has worked in health care for more than 40 years. She became a registered nurse through St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in San Francisco then earned nursing and public health nursing degrees from Sacramento State University and a San Jose State University master of public health degree. She was assistant chief of public health for Santa Cruz County, Cabrillo College director of gerontology and an instructor at U.C. Santa Cruz and San Jose State University.

She has worked for 20 years in underserved communities studying health disparities and designing programs to narrow gap in quality between insured and uninsured communities. She also works as an advocate at the state level on issues of access to health care, development of primary care training programs, and cultural issues in medical care. She is currently the secretary/treasurer of the California Academy of Family Physicians and an active member of the Legislative Affairs Committee that focuses on state legislative issues. She earned her medical degree at UCSF, her Masters in Public Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine with a focus on health care systems, and she earned a Master’s Degree in clinical research at UC Davis.
