The state Board of Equalization Customer Service and Administrative Efficiency Committee launched the OPEN BOE data portal (www.boe.ca.gov/DataPortal), which consolidates a range of historical data, such as taxable sales in California and information for other tax and fee programs into one uniform view with easy access. Some of the data is currently available on the board’s website.
North Bay hospitals and other health care facilities won Women’s Choice Awards, bestowed based on customer-satisfaction surveys conducted by WomenCertifed. St. Helena Hospital made the list for “America’s 100 Best Hospital,” “America’s Best Hospital in Obstetrics” and “America’s Best Hospital in Heart Care.” St. Joseph Health‘s Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa for the second consecutive year were named among “America’s Best Hospitals for Orthopedics” by the Women’s Choice Awards. Santa Rosa Memorial also earned a slot on the “Region’s Best Hospitals” list. Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Medical Center made it on the “America’s Best Breast Centers” list. Novato Community Hospital was named to the “America’s Best Hospitals for Emergency Care” list. Petaluma Post-Acute Rehabilitation made the “America’s Best Nursing Homes” list. WomenCertified said women on average make 90 percent of household health care decisions.
Novato-based Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company expanded its water-loss protection program via consultancy Water Security Solutions. This service will offer policyholders greater ease and understanding of how to best protect their homes from water damage, while saving them time and money getting it done. Options are discounted $300–$1,000 per system.
Zap, a Santa Rosa-based electric vehicle company, and its Chinese subsidiary Jonway Auto said they received 25,000 committed direct orders for its newest models of Urbee and Sparkee. An independent super dealer company was set up by Jonway Group to manage the volume orders and the logistics of managing the new dealers in multiple regions in China.
Marrianne McBride, president and CEO of the Council on Aging, announced the expansion of the Stage Gourmet-to-Go line of chef-prepared entrées. Pacific Markets locations in Santa Rosa (1465 Town and Country Dr.) and Sebastopol (550 Gravenstein Hwy. N.) are now offering these ready-to-eat meals in their deli cases. All proceeds from Stage purchases benefit the Council on Aging’s Meals on Wheels program.
Truett-Hurst (Nasdaq: THST), signed an agreement with Trialto Wine Group, Ltd., based in Vancouver, British Columbia, to distribute the Truett-Hurst portfolio of brands in Canada. After the European Union, Canada was the second-largest export market for California wines last year, with $454 million shipped there, up 12 percent from 2012, according to San Francisco-based Wine Institute.
CK Mondavi Family Vineyards begin its third annual donation program for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. The St. Helena-based winery has donated more than $65,000 to the fund over the past two years. Marc Mondavi presented the 2013 donation of $38,585 to David Winters, fund president, at the Intrepid Museum in New York. The donation program kicked off nationwide with in-store promotions on May 1 and runs through the end of August. The program offers in-store coupons and rebates, that when redeemed prompt a $1 donation by CK Mondavi to the fund.
