Fuchs to fill role temporarily
PETALUMA — Naomi Fuchs, CEO of Santa Rosa Community Health Centers, on Tuesday took over as interim CEO of Redwood Community Health Coalition, a consortium of nonprofit health centers across the North Bay that was formerly headed by Steve Ramsland.
Mr. Ramsland recently resigned from the post he took over about a year ago.
Ms. Fuchs will simultaneously serve as acting CEO of Santa Rosa Community Health Centers, the county’s largest federally qualified health center that serves some 40,000 patients per year at seven sites across Santa Rosa, while serving part-time in the interim post at the Redwood Coalition. Her term is expected to last about three months while the nonprofit searches for a permanent CEO.
“The continued success of our regional coalition programs is paramount to our success as individual health centers,” Ms. Fuchs said in a statement. “This temporary expansion of my role through RCHC is to further support the vision to reduce health disparities and to ensure that all people have access to quality health care.”
Mr. Ramsland took over as CEO at the Redwood Coalition last April, after working as a health care consultant for Open Minds, advising behavioral health providers and payers on issues related to health reform and mental health. Prior to that, he oversaw Buckelew’s behavioral health efforts across Marin, Sonoma, Napa and Solano counties for four years.
The Redwood Coalition includes health centers in Marin, Sonoma, Napa and Yolo counties, including some of the largest FQHCs such as Petaluma Health Center, Marin Community Clinics, Clinic Ole in Napa and West County Health Centers in Sonoma County, among others. It has been cited as a key player in helping the North Bay’s FQHCs achieve accountable care organization status, an initiative of the Affordable Care Act overseen by the Centers For Medicare and Medicaid, along with other efforts to offer a broader, regional approach for nonprofit health centers.
