Ten North Bay companies honored with manufacturing awards

NORTH BAY -- Winners of the North bay Business Journal's fourth annual Top Manufacturers in the North Bay awards were announced last week.

Ten companies and one individual will be honored at the awards reception on July 24 at Sonoma Mountain Village.

Winning the Innovation – Large category is Agilent Technologies in Santa Rosa, soon to be renamed Keysight Technologies. The maker of test equipment for wireless communications is the largest tech employer in the North Bay region.

Winner of the Innovation – Small award is Protofab, a 16-year-old tool and die maker in Petaluma founded by Mike Maendi.

The Bear Republic Brewing Company, of Healdsburg and Cloverdale, was selected for the Growth award for its rapid expansion and plans to become a destination brewery. The Leadership award goes to Claret Medical, a maker of devices for protection of the brain during heart surgery and interventions located in Santa Rosa.

Datum Technologies is the winner in the Quality category. The 15-employee precision metal manufacturing company in Santa Rosa is both ISO and ASO certified to work in aerospace and other high tech industries.

The award for Customer Service goes to Metalfx of Willits in Mendocino County, a sheet metal fabricator and maker of medical devices. GCX Corporation, a designer and maker of mounting solutions for medical device and medical information systems, will be honored as the Outstanding Supplier. The company recently received the U.S. Commerce Department Export Achievement Certificate for its efforts to send products to the Middle East.

P&L Specialties of Santa Rosa is the winner of the Community category. For 30 years P&L has made stainless steel equipment for the wine industry.

Winner of the Global award is another 30-year-old company: Royce Instruments of Napa, maker of high-end testing and sorting equipment for the semiconductor industry.

Winning the Startup category is the latest addition to the growing biomed sector in the North Bay, RXFiber in Windsor, a pioneer in fiber for the medical device industry.

And finally, winner of the inaugural Mike Hauser Manufacturing Leadership Award is Kevin Smith of Agilent, who, along with the late Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce CEO Mr. Hauser, has been a strong supporter of maintaining and growing the manufacturing segment of  the North Bay business community.
