Best Places to Work 2014: Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce

SANTA ROSA -- "For more than 100 years, the Santa Rosa Chamber has been making a difference in our community by making it a great place to live and do business," said President and CEO Jonathan Coe. "Our 27-member staff is proud of the work they do in our community for our member businesses and for the way they support each other, and me as their leader."

Employees say the chamber takes each person's personal life into account. "There is compassion and flexibility when it comes to family emergencies and when family support time is needed," a staff member said.

Sponsored events reinforce the culture. There is an annual staff tour and dinner at Castello di Amorosa Winery, and activities, such as zip lining, wine tasting on bikes and bus trips to Giants and A's baseball games. "Traveling together increases staff morale and camaraderie," an employee said.

Chamber staff members also participate in A Day of Caring with United Way, Light the Night Walk, American Heart Association Walks, Railroad Square Association activities, the Amgen Tour and GranFondo.

"Managers lead by example and handle employee relations consistently and thoughtfully. I'm happy to work at a place where I actually want to be without fighting myself to get up and go to work," an employee said.
