SANTA ROSA -- Adobe Associates, Inc., is one of the largest locally based civil engineering, land surveying, land planning and wastewater design firms.

The housing development slowdown then the economic recession hit the construction industry hard, but Adobe's partners made employee incentives a priority.
"Even through the recession the company strived to continue to offer health benefits and as many hours as they could," an employee said. "The work environment is supportive and enjoyable and provides opportunities for growth."
In addition to typical benefits is an allowance for child care, flexible schedules, Friday morning snacks, Christmas party and outings.
"We do a summer family gathering every year," a manager said. "Last year, we went to a San Francisco Giants baseball game, and this year we are going to Safari West [animal park near Santa Rosa] -- all paid for by Adobe."
Owners and management allow employees to leave to pick up a sick kid at daycare and give wedding and baby presents to any employees.
The firm also is involved in community efforts such as food and toy collection campaigns as well as participation in the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce, local engineering trade associations and the Active 20/30 Club.
