Monday, August 11, 2008
SANTA ROSA – TriAccess Technologies, whose tiny radio frequency chip packs a lot of power into cable and telecom networks, has signed with a new chip supplier to up the product volume and speed of delivery to its customers.High volume and speed are in demand as wireless, wireline and cable providers race each other to give subscribers the highest-speed data and video at the lowest cost.
The agreement with Hillsboro, Ore.-based TriQuint Semiconductor’s commercial foundry business unit is expected to give TriAccess an edge over its larger competitors, said TriAccess Vice President of Marketing Brian Bauer.
The company’s integrated circuit uses radio frequency to improve efficiency and lower costs of bringing advanced broadband services into the home.
“Our new chip leapfrogs the other, similar technologies that are out there, and now we can deliver it in just four to eight weeks. The usual time is 20 weeks,” said Mr. Bauer.
TriAccess now has 50 customers among systems makers who supply the major carriers and cable companies, up from 30 since March of this year.
The company has 11 employees.
