A Santa Rosa woman attempted to run down a police officer early Wednesday while trying to flee officers investigating car burglary reports, police said.

The officer jumped out of the way of the pickup, which was headed directly at him at about 40 mph, Sgt. David Linscomb said.

Three officers' arriving patrol cars also had to take evasive action to avoid being hit as the truck driver attempted to leave the south Santa Rosa neighborhood, Linscomb said.

The full-size pickup then hit a parked patrol car and the pickup driver, who tried to run away, was caught after a short chase. Officers arrested Sheena Galanda, 25.

The incident occurred at Dowd Drive and Kenwood Court. Officers were called to the scene at about 1:40 a.m. Wednesday in response to reports of car break-ins.

Officers found one burglarized car and burglary tools inside the truck Galanda was driving, Linscomb said.

The truck was reported stolen Tuesday evening from a Santa Rosa business, Linscomb said.

No one was injured in the incident, he said.

Galanda was booked into Sonoma County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.

She was arrested on suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle, assault on a police officer with an automobile, feloniously evading police, possession of burglary tools, driving under the influence and resisting arrest.

These are difficult economic times. This lady appears to have made a poor decision that probably resulted from her medical problem with alcohol. I say we let bygones be bygones.
