SANTA ROSA — Exchange Bank reported Tuesday that its commercial loan portfolio jumped $55.9 million in 2014, up about 20 percent from 2013, to $334 million.
Overall net income for the full year rose to $17.7 million from $15.7 million in 2013, a gain of 12.7 percent.

SANTA ROSA — Summit State Bank, headquartered in Santa Rosa, reported earnings of $5.5 million for calendar year 2014, up 27 percent over 2013 earnings.

NOVATO — Bank of Marin Bancorp (NASDAQ: BMRC) reported Monday that the bank’s 2014 annual earnings rose from $14.3 million in 2013 to $19.8 million, up some 38 percent, and a record.
The bank has digested its 2013 acquisition of NorCal Community Bancorp, parent of Bank of Alameda in the East Bay.
Bank of Marin’s assets now total about $1.8 billion, large enough to distribute new federal regulatory costs over a broader base of business.

On June 6, 2014, five months before he died from an apparent heart attack on Nov. 10, Warren Clay Stephens hosted a dinner celebration of his company, Warren Capital, for its 30-year anniversary.
In retrospect, the Fountaingrove dinner in 2014 may have been an effort by Mr. Stephens to bolster his credibility and corral new investors or coax additional amounts from existing investors.
Victims of the apparent fraud, among them many business owners, were typically savvy and experienced.

SANTA ROSA — Live Oak Bank, based in Wilmington, N.C., opened an office in Santa Rosa to serve the wine, craft beverages and distillery industries.
The bank plans to move from the temporary offices at 50 Old Courthouse Sq. to a loan-production office at 100 B St. in Santa Rosa in late spring, as soon it is ready.
The office is managed by veteran North Bay banker Jeff Clark and has two additional loan officers, Tracy Sheppard and Randall Behrens.

With interest rates hovering at historic laws, real estate refinance loan activity continues to be strong, with many rushing to lock in a rock-bottom rate before the inevitable increase. It is not uncommon for property owners who are unable to qualify for their desired loan to ask a relative or friend to co-sign the loan, in which case that co-borrower may be added to the title of the property securing the loan.
But before you add someone to title to your property just to qualify for a loan, consider other alternatives and learn how to do it without causing a property tax nightmare.
