He has done his homework, knows the costs and benefits, and has been advocating with his board to buy electric cars for the business. I couldn’t help but be impressed by Mark’s knowledge and passion.

ROHNERT PARK — SoCo Nexus chairman Lindsay Austin was former vice president of sales and marketing at Uniphase, which merged with JDS to become JDSU. The company has a large Santa Rosa operation with some 400 employees, acquired in 2000 when it was Optical Coating Laboratory Inc. and a major JDS supplier.

ROHNERT PARK — Soligent, whose North American distributor for solar energy systems is locally based, said it acquired the U.S. distribution network of Denver-based Conergy.
Soligent’s local roots date to 2007, and the company has made several major acquisitions since then.

“No money down” financing has made installing solar much easier for many property owners. But for every customer with a good credit score and south facing roof, there are many others without such advantages. Enter Community Choice Energy. It promises to overcome barriers to renewable energy development while modernizing and decentralizing the electricity system.
California’s first and second Community Choice programs, Marin Clean Energy and Sonoma Clean Power, offer cleaner power and lower rates. Sonoma Clean Power estimates that in 2014 alone more than $6 million will stay in the local economy because of their favorable power procurement.
