Construction on new Sonoma Co. courthouse could start in 2014
April 11th, 2012The State Public Works Board in Sacramento today approved acquisition of three Santa Rosa properties needed to build a $178.7 million new Sonoma County criminal courthouse. It’s one of an estimated $380 million in projects for two new courthouses and one major renovation in North Bay counties in the next few years.

St. Joseph Health faces class-action lawsuit over patient data exposure
April 9th, 2012SANTA ROSA — A class-action lawsuit has been filed against St. Joseph Health System, which operates Santa Rosa Memorial, Petaluma Valley and Queen of the Valley hospitals, for allowing private patient data to be searchable online for 31,800 patients across the system’s California hospitals, including about 10,000 patients locally.

Sonoma County health extends mental, drug services to Cloverdale center
April 2nd, 2012Sonoma County’s Department of Health and Human Services has partnered with the Alexander Valley Health Center in Cloverdale to bring “essential mental health and substance abuse treatment services” to Northern Sonoma County through its Path2Health program, but its future is now somewhat clouded with the prospect of health care reform being struck down by the Supreme Court.

Santa Rosa woman wins suit against 47.5 percent loan penalty
April 2nd, 2012SANTA ROSA – A 61-year-old Santa Rosa woman has won a suit against a Florida-based mortgage lender after being hit with what a Sonoma County judge called a “gigantic” 47.5 percent fee for prepaying a commercial property loan. The Santa Rosa law firm that represented the woman, Beyers Costin, called the ruling a victory for borrowers over questionable lending practices.
